Outline In Color
The building blocks that compose the origins of any band all consist of one common denominator; a passion for music. The Tulsa, Oklahoma based post-hardcore band, OUTLINE IN COLOR, share a unison sense of originality and a near obscure level of drive that simply sets them apart from the rest.
Forming from the reminiscence of several local bands in 2010, OUTLINE IN COLOR recalls never aspiring to sound similar to any specific band on the scene. “We just knew what sound we wanted and we created it,” said bassist Mike Skaggs. After several writing sessions OUTLINE IN COLOR’s first EP, Outline In Color, was self-released in October of 2010 and has since sold over 7,000 digital copies and is distributed world-wide (including Japan).
Though the release of their first EP was successful, the band knew one thing was missing: a finalized clean vocalist. After months of searching, the band saw a perfect fit in K.C. Simonsen. Without a doubt in his mind, Simenson left Berkley College of Music in Boston, MA, and officially joined the band in February of 2011. The group mutually felt it was time to start focusing on a debut LP and immediately began writing. Since the LP was going to be self-funded, OUTLINE IN COLOR collaboratively started a kickstarter project, which resulted in a portion of the LP being funded by their loyal fans.
Nearly two years later, OUTLINE IN COLOR is proud to announce Jury Of Wolves (out September 25th, 2012). The eleven song LP, produced by guitarist See Jay Cochran and mixed by Andrew Wade (A Day to Remember, The Word Alive), is what the band feels directly portrays who they are, not only as individuals, but as a collaborative group. “It is all of the people in our city and across the world who told us we couldn't do it and talked down to us or behind our backs. It is quite literally a call out. But it is simply us and the lyrics are our struggles,” said Skaggs.
With the release of Jury Of Wolves so close, OUTLINE IN COLOR is ready to prove themselves worthy in an ever-changing industry. “Relentless, Determined, Confident and Eager. We have never once doubted ourselves,” said guitarist Forrest Mankins. OUTLINE IN COLOR has shared the stage with Memphis May Fire, Make Me Famous, Motionless In White, The Word Alive, The Color Morale, Stick To Your Guns, A Skylit Drive, For Today and many more both locally and regionally.
OUTLINE IN COLOR has recently been featured on the front-page of Sonic Bids, the Alternative Press blurbs and most recently hit #22 on MTV’s music meter and is what Highlight Magazine said “can only be described as a breath of fresh air to their genre.” It is clear that after one listen through Jury Of Wolves, this is simply the beginning for what this sextet can expect to experience as a long lasting career.
Awaken I Am
Awaken I Am
Awaken I Am is a 5-piece Progressive Pop-Rock band from Australia’s beautiful Gold Coast and Brisbane. You may recognize some of them from the band Sleepers, but after a few line-up changes, the guys decided to start fresh as Awaken I Am. The list of bands who AIA have toured with in the past year also looks remarkably like the roster of Australia’s biggest touring acts: The Amity Affliction, Closure In Moscow, As Tall As Lions, Lydia, Dream On Dreamer, Tonight Alive, Parkway Drive, Skyway, Caulfield, Rufio, Floating Me, Electric Horse, The Winnie Coopers and Surecut Kids, just to name a few.

Awaken I Am are easily distinguished from their peers in many ways. Their EP, Resonance,is brimming with infectious guitar riffs, playful drum structures, catchy composition, and perfectly subtle synths. Their insightful, perceptive lyrics and heartfelt, energetic music can be embraced by listeners of multiple genres, which is why they draw fans from a variety of bases including rock, hardcore, alternative, pop and indie.

AIA’s live show is something to be seen as well. They are teeming with energy and it doesn’t take the crowd very long to catch on to their enthusiasm. Even if you have never heard them before, you can’t help but appreciate the obvious quality and get your head moving. They hit you with passionate vocal harmonies that will send chills through your bones, all while instrumentals remain as tight as they are on the album.

Awaken I Am are, quite effortlessly, raising the bar on what our generation accepts as quality music and talented musicians.
